Doctors advised not to feed ice cream to a child under two years old
Doctors at the Scientific Research Clinical Institute of Childhood advised against feeding ice cream to children under the age of two. This was announced by the press service of the Moscow region Ministry of Health on Tuesday, June 10.
As noted by the director of the NIKI of Childhood, Niso Odinaeva, ice cream contains a lot of sugar and fat, sugar can disrupt the balance of intestinal microflora, increase the risk of diabetes and caries, lead to nervous excitability and mood swings. Fat puts a strain on the digestive system, Radio 1 reports.
This product can be introduced into the child's diet only after two years, it is better to start with portions of 1-2 teaspoons. The ice cream should be slightly melted.
When choosing ice cream, it is better to give preference to a product without a substitute for milk fat and with a minimum amount of additives. You can give this treat once a week after meals to avoid a sharp rise in glucose and insulin in the blood. You can make ice cream yourself from yogurt, berries and fruits.
Also on June 10, gastroenterologist Ekaterina Kashukh, in an interview with RIAMO, advised choosing ice cream with a minimum amount of E-additives. According to her, the composition should contain natural ingredients and safe stabilizers.
