An agricultural harvesting campaign has started in Russia. The forecast for the future harvest was discussed on June 10 in Moscow at a meeting held by Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

It is noted that this year it is estimated that the amount of grain will be harvested by 5 million tons more than in the past. Farmers from the Republic of Crimea started harvesting, and later Kuban and the North Caucasus will join the events.

"We are entering a very important period, which is directly related to ensuring our food security. In this regard, I ask the leadership of the regions to make sure that the people on the ground are provided with everything necessary for regular harvesting," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Patrushev specified that against the background of successful indicators, Russia can count on a good harvest of the main crops.

At the same time, 52 million hectares have been sown on the Russian territory, as well as the area for grain crops has been increased. In addition, an increase in the planting of vegetables and potatoes was recorded. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, such measures will meet the needs of the domestic market.

On June 3, Alexey Krasilnikov, executive director of the Union of Potato and Vegetable Market Participants, told Izvestia that the potato harvest in 2025 could grow by 250 thousand tons compared to the previous one. Also, in some regions, in particular in Kabardino-Balkaria, Stavropol, Krasnodar Territory, Rostov and Astrakhan regions, harvesting of early potatoes has already begun.
