University staff in Leningrad region suspected of organizing illegal migration
In the Leningrad Region, the Federal Security Service (FSB), together with the police, stopped the activities of employees of Gatchina State University, who issued study visas for money to citizens from the Middle East without actually studying at the university. This was announced on June 10 by the press service of the FSB of Russia for the city of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
"A criminal case has been opened against the participants in the criminal scheme of the General Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in St. Petersburg on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of an illegal migration channel")," the material says.
At the moment, law enforcement officers are identifying all those involved in illegal activities and expanding the evidence base.
Earlier, on June 6, police officers and local residents were detained at Nizhny Novgorod airport in connection with the organization of illegal migration. It was clarified that from 2024 to 2025, a group operated that identified violators of migration laws and allowed them to leave Russia without punishment for a fee.
