The expert warned about dangerous aromas in the summer heat

Incorrectly selected perfumes in hot weather can turn into a source of unpleasant odors instead of the expected fresh plume. Roman Oparin, Associate Professor of the Department of General Biology and Bioecology at the State University of Education, told Izvestia on June 12.
"Even the most expensive perfume becomes a "chemical weapon" if seasonality is not taken into account. In the heat, the evaporation of the upper notes accelerates, and heavy base chords appear too sharply," the expert explained.
Oparin explained that high temperatures change the perception of flavors. Perfume molecules are oxidized by ultraviolet radiation. For example, vanilla or patchouli may start to smell rancid.
The expert named the fragrance categories that should be avoided in the summer. Heavy leather and smoky compositions acquire an apothecary bitterness, oriental spices begin to resemble an "unwashed body", and sweet vanilla notes are a spoiled dessert.
"Leather chords will be learned in the cool like an expensive leather jacket, and in the heat — like an overheated car interior. Sweet vanilla and balms, which delight us on long winter evenings with the aromas of mulled wine, begin to resemble burnt sugar with a pharmacy aftertaste on a sultry afternoon," the biologist warned.
To test the fragrance in the heat, he recommended a simple rule: if the smell becomes unpleasant 30 minutes after application, it is better to leave these perfumes for autumn. In addition, you can apply perfume and go out in the sun for 10 minutes — if the smell has become "metallic" or "drugstore", then this option is not suitable.
The specialist recommended choosing light citrus, marine and floral notes for summer. Jasmine, lily of the valley, green tea — these scents work well in the heat and do not give unexpected metamorphoses.
Earlier, on March 30, it was reported that citrus, floral, woody, fruity and spicy notes were among the top 5 most popular flavors among Russians. This is stated in the results of a study by analysts of the Golden Apple. At the same time, the most popular perfume product turned out to be eau de parfum — on average, 60% of people prefer it.
