Contacts between Russia and Ukraine regarding the transfer of the bodies of the dead soldiers are underway. This was announced by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov at a briefing on June 10.

"Contacts are being made, numbers are being compared. But as soon as there is a final understanding, then, hopefully, this exchange will take place," Peskov said.

Russian Presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky said on June 7 that the Ukrainian side had unexpectedly postponed indefinitely the reception of the bodies of dead soldiers and the exchange of prisoners of war. He called on Kiev to comply with the agreed schedule and fulfill all agreements.

Later, on June 8, the representative of the Russian negotiating group, Lieutenant General Alexander Zorin, said that the Russian side was ready to fulfill all agreements in the context of the exchange of prisoners of war and the transfer of the bodies of dead Ukrainian soldiers. The representative of the negotiating group emphasized that the transfer of the bodies of the dead soldiers is of a humanitarian nature and is not a politicized decision.
