Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram messenger, admitted that he rarely uses a mobile phone for security reasons. On June 9, he told this to American journalist Tucker Carlson, whom he published an interview on his YouTube channel.

"I don't carry a phone because I think it's very distracting. I also think it harms privacy," Durov said.

According to the businessman, he has hardly used a mobile phone for the past year. The founder of the messenger emphasized that he often uses a tablet or laptop to communicate with the team and create notes.

In August 2024, Durov was detained at Le Bourget airport in Paris. He was charged with a number of crimes, including drug distribution, crimes against children, money laundering and fraud. At the same time, he was released from custody on his own recognizance and bail in the amount of € 5 million. During the investigation, the court seized his passports and ordered him to live in Paris at a specific address.

Later that day, Durov said that he initially believed that he had been persecuted in France because of a mistake. According to the entrepreneur, he was aware that the French authorities were concerned about Telegram's "alleged lack of response to court requests." However, as he later realized, this was not the case.
