Rosgvardiya employees destroyed a WWII-era shell in the Sverdlovsk region
Employees of the Rosgvardiya directorate for the Sverdlovsk region destroyed a shell from the Great Patriotic War (WWII) in the vicinity of Sysert. This was reported on the agency's website on June 10.
Specialists of the engineering service neutralized an artillery shell from the time of the Second World War, discovered during construction work in a cottage village near Sysert. Local residents reported the munition-like object to the centralized security service, after which a non-departmental security crew went to the site, which cordoned off the territory and ensured the safety of citizens during the work.
The mine clearance group of the Malakhit riot police Department of the Russian Guard for the Sverdlovsk region was called to the site of the discovery. Specialists examined the find, establishing that it was an unexploded artillery munition, equipped with a head fuse, from the period of the Second World War with traces of corrosion, which had lain in the ground for many years.
It is specified that the Russian Guards, observing the necessary security measures, transported the dangerous find and destroyed it.
More than 9,5 thousand shells from the Great Patriotic War were lifted from the bottom of the Baltic Sea on June 9. Divers of the Leader Center for special risk rescue operations descend and lift cargo to the surface during such work. Then it is handed over to the engineering troops, who, in turn, take it to the landfill and destroy it.
