The Government of the Murmansk Region will allocate about 36.7 million rubles to the regional Ministry of Internal Policy for logistical support for the preparation and conduct of elections to representative bodies in four districts. The draft resolution is available on the Open Electronic Region portal.

According to Bi-port news agency, more than 5.6 million rubles will be allocated for elections in Lovozersk district, more than 12.8 million rubles in Kandalaksha district, more than 4.7 million rubles in Tersk District, and more than 13.4 million rubles in Kola District. The money will be transferred to the bank accounts of the territorial election commissions.

In 2024, the authorities of the Murmansk Region decided to transform municipalities into districts. Public hearings were held in the Kandalaksha, Kola, Tersk and Lovozersk districts. Most of the citizens who came to the hearings supported the initiative.

Later, the Murmansk Regional Duma considered the issue. They noted that the transformation of districts into districts is necessary to optimize management structures and financial components.

The laws on the formation of four districts were signed by Governor Andrei Chibis in December 2024. The transition period will last until December 31, 2025. During this time, it is necessary to form local self-government bodies and resolve other issues.
