The optimal time for strawberry transplanting is late summer or early autumn. During this period, the heat subsides, so plants tolerate stress more easily. However, it is important to keep in mind that the weather conditions in each region are different. Nikita Chaplin, a deputy of the State Duma (United Russia Faction), chairman of the Union of Summer Residents of the Moscow region, told Izvestia about this on June 11.

"Strawberries are a grateful culture, but they require attention. Proper transplantation is the key to the health of the bush and abundant fruiting. It is better to do this in late summer and early autumn, when the heat subsides. However, for example, in the Moscow region it is the period from mid—August to mid-September," he said.

It is important to carefully prepare the place for the transplant. According to Chaplin, strawberries like sunny, sheltered areas with fertile, loose soil. Before planting, it is necessary to apply organic fertilizers such as compost or humus.

"Strawberries are a glutton, they like top dressing. Adding ash will also be useful, as it contains the necessary trace elements," the deputy emphasized.

As for fertilizing, the expert recommends that they be carried out both before and after harvesting. According to him, in the spring, after the snow melts, strawberries can be fed with nitrogen fertilizers to stimulate the growth of greenery. And after harvesting, it is important to apply phosphorus-potassium fertilizers, which will help plants prepare for winter and lay flower buds for the next year.

Special attention should be paid to the care of strawberry beds. Chaplin emphasizes the importance of regular weeding and loosening of the soil. He explained that weeds are strawberries' main competitors for nutrients and moisture. They must be removed regularly and the soil loosened to provide air access to the roots.

One of the life hacks for strawberry care, according to the expert, is mulching the beds. Mulch not only helps to retain moisture in the soil and prevents the growth of weeds, but also protects the berries from contamination. Straw, sawdust, humus or special agrofibers can be used as mulch.

Earlier, on May 6, doctor Irina Geroeva gave advice to summer residents on how to work safely in the garden. According to the expert, it is important to stretch your muscles regularly by doing simple stretching and relaxation exercises and not stay in a bent position for a long time.
