- The police detained the courier of the scammers and returned 920 thousand rubles to the pensioner in Achinsk.

The police seized 920 thousand rubles from the detained courier of scammers, stolen by him from a resident of Achinsk. This was announced on Tuesday, June 10, by the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
"A man involved in remote deception and theft of the savings of a 76-year-old local resident has been detained. The attacker did not have time to transfer the money stolen from her to her accomplices," the agency said in a Telegram post.
It was established that during a telephone conversation, the fraudster persuaded the victim to transfer his savings through a courier, allegedly for their further preservation. Then the woman withdrew money from her account and handed it over to the man who was supposed to bring the funds to his employers. As a reward, 1.5% of the stolen amount was intended for him.
During a search at the suspect's place of residence, the fraudulently stolen money was discovered and seized, and the fraudsters' courier, born in 2003, was detained.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Large-scale fraud"). The person involved has been taken into custody.
The pensioner thanked the police for their prompt work, the Interior Ministry said.
On June 4, the Moscow Prosecutor's office reported that phone scammers themselves were provoking citizens to contact them by sending their phone in private messages. To avoid falling for the trick of this scheme, never call back to such numbers. If you receive a suspicious call, you should check the information received and consult with someone.
