US President Donald Trump said that it was the United States that won the Second World War, while the USSR "helped" the Americans to win. He made a corresponding statement to reporters at the White House on June 9.

"We are the only ones who are not celebrating [the victory]. We won the war. Russia helped [in this]. To be fair, they lost 51 million people. People will say, "Oh, he's standing up for Russia." But they lost 51 million people. And you know, we must not forget about this," TASS quoted him as saying.

Trump also stated that he considers the US army to be the best in the world. However, according to him, the US military does not have enough ammunition, because "they are very quickly sent to other countries, especially to one."

On May 24, Donald Trump announced that he had concluded that the United States had made the greatest contribution to victory in World War II after conducting contacts with leaders of other countries. In addition, Trump noted that he had also spoken with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. According to him, the Red Army allegedly lost 51 million people, but it was the United States that "won."

Earlier, on May 7, Trump once again stated that the United States won the Second World War, and the USSR did not play such a decisive role as the American side. In his opinion, the United States won "with the help of others."
