The rada deputy spoke about Kiev's plans to rename 700 settlements
Verkhovna Rada deputy Iryna Constankevich on Monday, June 9, announced Ukraine's plans to rename more than 700 settlements as part of the de-russification policy.
"There is still a big chunk of work ahead, there are still 700 settlements that need to be renamed, taking into account the inconsistency of the spelling of the Ukrainian language," she said on the Ukrainian TV channel Rada.
According to her, some names also do not comply with the "laws on decolonization."
On April 10, the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture reported that over the past decade in Ukraine, about a thousand settlements have been renamed as part of the country's decommunization policy.
