Valery Novoselov, a neurologist, geriatrician and neurophysiologist, said that the first symptoms of Alzheimer's disease can be mild forgetfulness, loss of sense of smell and sleep disorders.

In conversation with aif.ru On Monday, June 9, the specialist noted that such manifestations are usually mistaken for natural signs of aging, but conceived they indicate the beginning of a neurodegenerative process.

"In the early stages, the disease manifests itself differently in each patient, and not all symptoms occur at the same time. The first signs are difficult to distinguish from ordinary forgetfulness," the doctor said.

According to him, the presence of genetic factors does not always mean the development of the disease, as the absence of such genes does not guarantee protection against it. The specialist called an active lifestyle the main advice for the prevention of Alzheimer's, writes RT. Regular walks and physical activity reduce the risk of developing the disease.

"The more aerobic exercise and movement, the better the brain is protected from aging," the doctor concluded.

Earlier on June 9, psychotherapist Irina Krashkina, in an interview with RIAMO, stated that quitting smoking even in adulthood can significantly improve cognitive functions and reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease.

In May, neurologist Konstantin Makhinov called memory impairment an early sign of Alzheimer's disease. With the disease, events that have recently occurred are first forgotten. A person may have difficulty choosing words when talking, lose things, notes 360.ru . He advised contacting doctors as early as possible to start amyloid-targeted therapy.

Also in May, doctor Anna Shelobanova told Izvestia which vegetables can protect against dementia. According to her, regular potatoes can be a real treasure for the brain.

In March, nutritionist Mariyat Mukhina, in an interview with the National Health Service, stated that garlic is the prevention of thrombosis, Alzheimer's disease and even cancer.

In May last year, IA Regnum, citing a study by scientists, wrote that the substance urolitin A, which is found in pomegranates, strawberries, raspberries and walnuts, can help in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. However, specific doses of products that contain the necessary substance or food additives have not yet been named.
