- Durov noted the threats to the EU from the authorities' plans to ban encryption in messengers.

Banning encryption in messengers and social networks would pose a direct threat to the entire population of the European Union (EU). This was announced on June 9 by Telegram founder Pavel Durov.
According to him, now the EU wants to oblige messengers to abandon the policy of full encryption. Such actions may lead to the fact that messengers will be required to switch to an encryption policy with secret data access keys.
"This is a huge threat to the entire population, to all users, if companies are legally required to implement encryption with hidden access keys," Durov said in an interview with journalist Tucker Carlson, which was posted on the YouTube channel.
On February 7, The Washington Post newspaper, citing sources, reported that the UK security services had requested access from the American company Apple to encrypted data from the iCloud cloud storage of users around the world. The author of the article suggested that Apple would simply abandon cloud storage encryption in order not to break its promise to ensure user data security.
