Sobyanin presented state awards on the eve of Russia Day

On the eve of Russia Day, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin presented state and city awards to honored Muscovites.

Alexander Gornostaev, who worked as deputy chairman of the Board of Directors of Mosinzhproekt, received the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, III degree. Valerian Lavrov, an orthopedic traumatologist at the National Research Center for Tuberculosis Control, was awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 1st degree.

Viktor Stepanov, Chairman of the Council of the Moscow House of Veterans (Pensioners) of Wars and the Armed Forces, was awarded the badge of Distinction "For Services to Moscow".

Igor Voskresensky, Executive Secretary of the International Association of Unions of Architects, was awarded the Order of Merit in Culture and Art. The Luke Krymsky Medal was awarded to Andrey Melnikov, a neurosurgeon and a leading researcher at the Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology at the Roshal Clinic.

Also among the awardees are Alexander Strakhov, a metro engineer, Svetlana Shevchenko, rector of the Technoprogress Institute for Advanced Training, and Andrey Kovalev, CEO of Mosenergosbyt. They were noted "for their many years of impeccable service to the capital," Sobyanin stressed.

The Mayor thanked the participants of the ceremony for their professionalism and contribution to the development of the country in general and the capital in particular.
