A check has been organized in the Murmansk Region on the death of a tourist who was rafting on a catamaran on the Iova River. This was announced by the regional SU of the Investigative Committee of Russia on Monday, June 9.
The body of a tourist was found last Friday, June 6, on the banks of the Iova River in the territory of the Kandalaksha district. According to the Investigative Committee, the man, born in 1975, was one of the participants in the rafting organized by the tour operator.
The catamaran the man was on capsized. He died, writes the Bi-port news agency.
The Investigative Committee organized an investigation into the incident. A medical examination has been scheduled, and eyewitnesses are being interviewed. All the circumstances of a person's death are being established. Based on the results of the inspection, a decision will be made to institute a criminal case.
In early May, in the Tunkinsky district of Buryatia, a tourist fell off a cliff while climbing Hulugaisha Peak. The man survived, but was injured.
