Lavrov proposed to move the UN to Sochi
It would be better if the headquarters of the United Nations Organization (UN) were moved to Sochi, as previously proposed by Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. This was stated on June 9 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during the Forum of the Future — 2050.
"It's best to move the UN to Sochi. Stalin, by the way, proposed this, and seriously proposed it. But then he went to meet (US President Franklin. — Ed.) to Roosevelt — first Long Island, then New York, Manhattan," he said.
According to Lavrov, it is currently impossible to do this, since the organization's structures have "deeply rooted their roots." If we move the UN now, then it will be necessary to move the peoples.
"All these structures have deep roots. And not only physically, in the form of buildings and property. But also in the form of staff. Especially after permanent contracts were introduced, the staff bought apartments and houses for themselves," he said.
Earlier, on June 3, it was reported that the UN had chosen non-permanent members of the Security Council (SC). These included Bahrain, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Latvia and Liberia.
