Italian police have uncovered a theft scheme at a gold smelter: an employee of the company took out the precious metal, hiding it in his hair. This was reported on June 9 by the newspaper La Repubblica.
"In one year, he managed to hide and then "attach" almost two kilograms of gold, taking home at least 150,000 euros," the publication says.
The crime was solved after a routine document check at the gold purchase point. Confused by the explanations, the 38-year-old man handed over to the police a gold strip weighing 250 g and worth about € 23 thousand. During a search of his house, they found even more precious metal, after which he confessed to a series of thefts, for which he used his long dreadlocks.
According to him, he worked at a jewelry factory in Switzerland until January and repeatedly took out gold without coming under the attention of security. The metal detectors did not cover the head area, and this allowed him to hide the jewelry in his hair.
The Sunday Times newspaper reported on January 25 that the exhibits of the Dacia exhibition were stolen from the Dutch Drenthe Museum in Assen during the raid.
