A special economic zone (SEZ) "Green Valley" will be created in Tatarstan. This project was approved at a meeting of the interdepartmental working group on the creation and development of SEZs, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. This was announced on June 9 on the website of the Government of the Russian Federation.

It is specified that the SEZ will appear on the territory of the Zainsky district of the republic. The main focus of her work will be biotechnology.

According to Tatarstan authorities, investments in the Green Valley will exceed 15 billion rubles by 2034, and 444 jobs will be created. The residents' projects include the processing of flax and cotton into biofibers and the production of sorbents and fertilizers; Tatneft is implementing two projects.

"By the end of 2024, we see a record demand for special zones among businesses, with 230 new residents and 1.2 trillion invested in the year alone. In the previous record year of 2023, there were 188 new residents and 636 billion investments. Serious pace has been gained, which cannot be slowed down," Novak said.

On April 1, the government of the Russian Federation announced that a new industrial SEZ Yuzhnouralskaya would appear in the Chelyabinsk Region. In addition, the regional authorities will create engineering, transport and other SEZ infrastructure by 2028, and it is planned to allocate more than 3.5 billion rubles for this.
