Polish President accuses opponents of rigging presidential elections
Outgoing Polish President Andrzej Duda said that "post-communists" and "liberal leftists" allegedly intend to falsify the results of the last presidential elections in the country. On June 9, he shared this opinion on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
According to Duda, the decision of the "post-communists" and the "liberal left" on the allegedly rigged elections may deprive Polish citizens of freedom of choice. He clarified that this must be combated, calling on the population to protect Poland's statehood.
"Don't give up, voters! <...> Let's defend Poland!" the politician wrote on his page.
It is specified that such a statement was made after the victory of Karol Nawrocki in the second round of the Polish presidential election on June 1, who was supported by the opposition Law and Justice party. He scored 50.89%, and his opponent, the mayor of Warsaw, candidate from the ruling "Civic Coalition" Rafal Trzaskowski, secured the support of 49.11% of the vote.
The Interia Wydarzenia newspaper, citing the Polish authorities, reported on April 6 that election commissions in two cities, Minsk—Mazowiecki and Krakow, allegedly incorrectly calculated the results of the second round of voting in the presidential elections. It is clarified that in fact, Trzaskowski allegedly received 611 votes (62.73%), and Navrotsky — 363 (37.27%), the chairman of the commission admitted his mistake, but none of the nine other members of the commission reported a violation.
