Prices for foreign cars in the Russian Federation increased 1.5 times faster than for Lada

Over the past four years, the price dynamics for popular models of foreign cars in Russia has been 1.5 times faster than the price growth for Lada cars. And their average cost is now twice as high as it was at the beginning of 2021, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said on June 9 in his Telegram channel.

According to the expert's calculations, in January 2021, the average price of a foreign car was 1.56 million rubles. A year later, it rose to 1.8 million rubles, and by January it had reached 2.6 million rubles. In May 2025, it will amount to 3.1 million rubles. For Lada models, this figure increased from 853 thousand to 1.65 million rubles.

The analyst recorded the largest growth (over 120%) for cars from Korean manufacturers (Hyundai and Kia), which are now sold in Russia under the domestic brand Solaris. According to his calculations, models such as Haval F6X, Chery Tiggo 4, Exeed TXL, Geely Coolray and Chery Tiggo 8 have become two or more times more expensive. Prices for other models have also increased by more than 80%.

For example, if in January 2021 the Chery Tiggo 4 crossover cost an average of 1.22 million rubles, then by May 2025 it had risen in price to 2.44 million rubles. Geely Atlas Pro increased in price from 2.15 million to 3.21 million rubles over the same period. And Haval Jolion — from 1.4 million to 2.6 million rubles. At the same time, the average price of Lada Granta increased from 624 thousand to 1.2 million rubles, and Lada Largus — from 822 thousand to 1.85 million rubles.

Tselikov noted that over the years, some models of foreign cars have changed quite a lot, so in some cases it is not entirely correct to compare prices for them. This year, price growth has slowed down significantly, and for a number of models it has stopped altogether, he said.
