The media reported on Ukraine's first repayment of wartime debts since 2022

Ukraine will make the first repayment of the Rapid Financing Instrument (RFI) credit facility from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the amount of $171 million since the beginning of 2022. This was reported on June 9 by Forbes Ukraine.
Under the RFI emergency financing program in 2022, Kiev received $2 billion ($2.67 billion at the current exchange rate) in two tranches. In addition, the repayment of the loan will last until October 2027 and will consist of 16 payments. With the first tranche, Ukraine will repay 6% of the total debt.
In 2025, Ukraine must transfer $3 billion to the IMF, of which $2.3 billion will be for debt repayment, and another $0.7 billion for interest payments.
Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said on the same day that Ukraine's refusal to pay its debt obligations and default meant the country's bankruptcy. Azarov stressed that Ukraine exists only by receiving money from abroad. According to him, these funds are sufficient exclusively for urgent current needs.
