Traditionally, on Russia Day, residents of the country have a rest, and if the holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday, then the day off is postponed to another date. In 2025, due to the postponement of the holiday from March 8, Russians will have four days off — from June 12 to June 15.

Every year, the holiday hosts mass celebrations, concerts and various activities for citizens of all ages. The streets of the cities are decorated with national flags. Volunteers distribute ribbons with the colors of the Russian tricolor.

Due to its geographical location, Russia Day celebrations are held in regions with a difference of up to 11 hours — that's how many time zones there are in Russia. Therefore, Russians living in different regions will receive congratulations at different times.

Two hours before Moscow, the celebration will take place in the Urals, and then on the Middle and Lower Volga, and finally in the capital. Kaliningrad, the westernmost city of our country, will be the last to take over the baton, where the holiday will come an hour after the Russian capital.
