The Kremlin stressed the importance of developing the fleet using modern technologies.
The Navy's development strategy is designed for the long term until 2050, to take into account modern technologies and the changing realities of combat operations. This was announced on June 9 at a briefing by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"The point is to develop in such a way that this process meets modern realities. Technologies are developing, as you can see, the nature of the fighting is changing significantly," Peskov said.
He noted that the length of the time plan is related to the specifics of building new ships, explaining that this is a very time-consuming process that takes a lot of time, so the plan is designed for the long term.
