A tourist died while rafting on a catamaran in the Murmansk region. This was announced on June 9 by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region.

It is specified that the man's body was found on June 6 near the bank of the Iova River in the Kandalaksha district. According to the agency, during the catamaran rafting, the floating vehicle overturned. The circumstances of the incident are now being established.

"In order to determine the cause of death of the deceased, a forensic medical examination has been appointed, and eyewitnesses of the incident are being interviewed," the website of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Murmansk Region says.

The agency clarified that a procedural decision will be made based on the results of the audit.

On April 23, a man died while rafting on the Belaya River in Adygea. It is specified that on April 21, an individual entrepreneur organized a rafting trip for four tourists and an instructor, but the raft overturned, and one of the passengers drowned due to strong currents. A criminal case has been opened into the incident under Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of a person").
