A group of false investors who stole about 21 million rubles was detained in Moscow. This was announced on June 9 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk.
"A group of false investors was detained in Moscow by employees of the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Southern Administrative District of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow. The preliminary damage [from their actions] is over 21 million rubles," she wrote on the Telegram channel.
Fraudsters on behalf of the company they created attracted citizens' money, promising them high incomes through investments in securities. Victims of the criminal scheme were found on online job search services. Clients were tricked into handing over their savings under the pretext of making big money. The resulting "profit" after conversion into cryptocurrency was credited to the account of one of the defendants.
"The number of victims of the illegal activities of intruders is 21 people," Volk added.
As a result of the operational search measures, six suspects were detained - five men aged 21 to 31 and a 24-year-old woman. One of the suspects was taken into custody, and the rest were given a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave.
On June 8, in St. Petersburg, police officers detained a group of fraudsters who hacked pages on the Gosuslugi portal in order to steal money. It was noted that, having obtained other people's data, the attackers ordered various goods on marketplaces. After that, the suspects resold them, and divided the money among themselves.
