A reporter for the Australian TV channel 9News was injured on Monday, June 9, while covering the street protests that continue in Los Angeles for the third day. A statement about the incident, as well as a video of the moment of the hit, were published on the TV channel's website.

A woman suffered a leg injury below the knee after being hit by a rubber bullet fired by one of the American police officers controlling the crowd.

"A 9News reporter was caught in the crossfire during the chaotic protests that engulfed part of Los Angeles. Correspondent Lauren Tomasi was wounded in the leg by a rubber bullet fired by a policeman standing guard in the city center," the statement said.

According to the TV channel, the incident occurred on the third day of large-scale protests in the United States, which broke out after the mass arrests of alleged illegal migrants and the deployment of the National Guard, whose actions the protesters consider unjustified.

The published footage shows how journalist Tomasi is reporting from a street in the city center and suddenly screams as a rubber bullet hits her left leg below the knee.

Mass protests in California began after a police raid to identify illegal migrants, during which 45 people were detained. On June 7, Trump ordered the National Guard to be sent to the state to stop the riots, which drew condemnation from the governors of 22 states, who regarded this as an "abuse of power."
