The first semi-finalists of the open series of blitz tournaments "Heroes of the Chessboard: Moscow" were determined in Moscow. The competition began on June 1 and is being held at more than 40 city venues as part of the "Summer in Moscow" project. This year, both beginners and award-winning chess players are participating in the tournament. The relevant information was published on the portal on June 9. mos.ru .
Qualifying games are held in each administrative district. 163 people have already taken part in them. Sites on Gogol Boulevard and Zelenograd have become one of the most popular points. 10 participants played at each of them, and the winners were determined based on the results of intense matches.
"So, Dmitry Rumyantsev reached the semifinals on Khachaturian Street, Ruslan Rauschenberger on Klyuchevaya Street, and Andrey Kondratiev on Dmitry Donskoy Boulevard. The winners beat their rivals in a tense game, showing the ability to quickly think through moves and think strategically," the publication says.
Competitions are held in the open air — among the locations are Gogolevsky, Strastnoy, Sretensky and Chistoprudny Boulevards, Gorky Park, Kolomenskoye Museum Reserve, Tagansky Park. Anyone can come to the tournament, support the participants and be inspired by the atmosphere of intellectual competition.
The format is a Swiss system of 11 rounds, with three minutes plus two seconds for each turn. Participants receive diplomas and prizes, and finalists receive large monetary awards: 1 million rubles for the first place, 500 thousand rubles for the second, 250 thousand rubles for the third. The final will be held on September 6 at the Central House of Chess named after M.M. Botvinnik.
The series is supported by the Department of Trade and Services of the City of Moscow, the Russian Chess Federation and the Russian Military Historical Society.
On May 28, Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina said that the tournament "Heroes of the Chessboard: Moscow" is organized under the auspices of the "Summer in Moscow" project. The competition will be held every Sunday. The entry will be opened in advance on a special page in the Russpass travel service. 40 people will meet in the final — the best will be determined on September 6 at the Central House of Chess named after M.M. Botvinnik.
