An explosion occurred at the facility of the American Kadena air base, located on the Japanese island of Okinawa, injuring four people. This was reported on June 9 by NHK TV channel with reference to the police.

"Around 11:20 a.m. (4:20 a.m. Moscow time. On the 9th, the fire service reported that an explosion had occurred at a facility operated by the self—defense forces in the village of Yomitan, and there were casualties. They are conscious," the publication says.

According to the Okinawa Prefecture, the explosion occurred at a temporary storage facility for unexploded ordnance. The injured servicemen were injured, including burns to their fingers. It is specified that their life is not in danger.

Currently, the police and fire services of the country are conducting an investigation at the scene.
