Six residents of Primorye were accused of illegal logging for 120 million rubles.


Six residents of Dalnegorsk and Vladivostok were accused of illegally cutting down forests for a total of 120 million rubles. This was announced on June 9 by the Primorsky Krai Prosecutor's Office.
"According to the investigation, no later than January 2021, acting as part of an organized group, without obtaining the appropriate permits, more than 2 thousand trees were cut down in the area of the Dalnegorsk city district. As a result of criminal activity, the damage to the forest fund exceeded 120 million rubles," the Telegram channel said.
In addition, according to the agency, two of the accused set fire to two Toyota Harrier and Toyota Porte cars belonging to a police officer who stopped illegal logging in 2019.
All six are charged under Part 3 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal logging of forest stands, committed on an especially large scale, by an organized group") and Part 5 of Article 33 ("Complicity in the commission of illegal logging of forest stands, committed on an especially large scale").
In addition, the two men are also charged under art. 167 part 2 of the Criminal Code ("Intentional destruction of other people's property, causing significant damage, committed by arson").
The Trans-Baikal Transport Police reported on February 20 that the Chita Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation was investigating a criminal case on the smuggling of more than 6 thousand cubic meters of timber worth more than 49 million rubles. It was clarified that the accused was a 52-year-old citizen of an East Asian country with experience in exporting strategically important resources.
