The dialogue between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump has led to a shift in Russian public opinion, and the contact has become an excellent opportunity for de-escalation. This was announced on June 8 by Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

Referring to the data of sociologists, he noted that after the start of the dialogue between the leaders of the two countries, the number of Russians calling the United States "hostile" decreased from 75% to 40%.

"Support for normalization of relations with the West has increased from 52% to 80%. The dialog is working. People are listening. A great opportunity for de-escalation," Dmitriev wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The telephone conversation between Putin and Trump took place on June 4. According to the American leader, during the talks, which lasted more than an hour, the presidents discussed the situation in Ukraine and Iran.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov later noted that it was important for Russia to maintain ties with the United States.
