The capture of the western border of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) by the 90th Tank Division from the Center group of forces was a real historic event for Russia. This was stated on June 8 by the plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District, Artyom Zhoga, Hero of Russia and one of the former commanders of the DPR militia battalion "Sparta".

"This is a historic event for Donetsk residents and our entire country...> The West of the DPR is under control! And this control is provided reliably, in the Ural way: firmly, with pressure and full dedication," Zhoga said in his Telegram channel.

He noted that the military of the 90th Division continues the traditions of the Ural Volunteer Corps, which was called the "black knives" during the Great Patriotic War. Now the division is formed mainly from fighters from the Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions.

"Today they are fighting for the borders of Donbass and closing the strategic gates to the Dnieper River. Thank you, brothers," the presidential representative added.

Earlier that day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian Armed Forces had liberated the village of Zarya in the DPR, and that the Center group of troops had reached the western border of the DPR and was continuing its offensive in the Dnipropetrovsk region. As Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council (SB), noted, new realities are emerging in the conflict zone in Ukraine against the background of the offensive of the Russian army in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
