A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. You can track the progress of the joint forces of Russia, the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as view the map of military operations on June 8 in the Izvestia material.

Units of the "Southern" group of troops liberated the village of Zarya in the DPR. During the offensive, they destroyed over 170 militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), five vehicles, five guns, two electronic warfare stations and an ammunition depot.

"Units of the 90th Tank Division of the Center group of forces have reached the western border of the Donetsk People's Republic and are continuing to develop an offensive in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The formations of four mechanized, assault, two amphibious assault brigades, a brigade of unmanned systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two brigades of marines and three brigades of the National Guard were defeated," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

In addition, over the past 24 hours, Russian aircraft, drones, missile forces and artillery have hit a workshop for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and their storage facilities and a training center for drone operators. The Russian army also targeted ammunition depots and temporary deployment points for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and mercenaries in 139 districts.

The Air defense forces, in turn, shot down 131 Ukrainian UAVs, 73 of them outside the special operation zone.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 663 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 62,255 UAVs, 610 anti-aircraft missile systems, 23,816 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,571 multiple rocket launchers, 25,880 field artillery and mortars, 36,629 units of special military vehicles.
