Finnish Prime Minister condemns Trump for wanting to ease sanctions against Russia

US President Donald Trump's desire to ease sanctions against Russia is a step in the wrong direction, and the United States should adopt new restrictions. On June 8, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo told reporters during a meeting of the party Council of the National Coalition Party in Helsinki.
"President Trump's desire to ease sanctions against Russia is the wrong direction," broadcaster Yle quoted him as saying.
According to him, the bill on tightening anti-Russian sanctions, prepared by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (listed in Russia as a terrorist and extremist), is "very strong."
"I hope that the United States will pass it (the bill — Ed.) as soon as possible and in the fullest possible volume," the politician said.
One of the provisions of the Graham bill provides for the introduction of a 500 percent duty on imports from countries that purchase oil, petroleum products, natural gas, uranium and other goods from Russia, adds "Газета.Ru ".
In addition, the Orpo supported an increase in defense spending to 5%.
On March 4, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen called the possible lifting of US sanctions against Russia the worst case scenario for current events. She noted that Finland now really needs the help of American allies.
