Representatives of the Pentagon and the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have begun searching for a replacement for SpaceX rockets after a quarrel between American leader Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk. This was reported by The Washington Post on June 7.

According to the publication, the US Pentagon and NASA called on Musk's competitors to develop new alternative spacecraft options as soon as possible.

It is clarified that Musk's statements about the decommissioning of the Dragon spacecraft due to a quarrel with Trump shocked government officials, which indicates the dependence of the American space industry on SpaceX.

"The concerned reaction in the field of space and national security highlights the risks of the government's heavy dependence on SpaceX in fulfilling critical tasks," the newspaper said.

Newsweek magazine reported on the same day that Trump's threat to terminate government contracts with SpaceX could lead to Washington having to turn to Moscow again to organize space launches.

On June 5, after Trump's words about the possible termination of government contracts with his companies to save the state budget, Musk announced that his aerospace company SpaceX would decommission the Dragon spacecraft. Later, he noted that he would not do this.
