On June 7, the governor of the Zaporizhia region, Yevgeny Balitsky, published lists of dead soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), whose bodies Kiev refused to take away.

"We will begin to publish lists of identified bodies so that relatives can find their dead," the governor said in a Telegram message.

There are 97 names on the published list. According to Balitsky, the Ukrainian side refused to take the bodies of the victims in order not to pay compensation to their relatives.

Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky said on the same day that the Ukrainian side had unexpectedly postponed indefinitely the reception of the bodies of dead soldiers and the exchange of prisoners of war. He also called on Ukraine to comply with the agreed schedule and fulfill all the agreements that were reached at the second round of negotiations in Istanbul.

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Colonel-General Alexander Fomin said that Russia had sent Ukraine a proposal in advance to transfer the bodies of the dead soldiers and was ready to begin implementing the agreements this week.
