In Primorsky Krai, a man survived an attack by a bear that bit him on the head and inflicted severe injuries. The incident was reported to Izvestia on June 7 by the victim himself, Artyom Kodenkov.

"They started fighting with him, rolled down the hill, flew ten meters. He immediately bit my head, I could hear my bones crunching in his jaw," he said.

After another bite, the man decided to pretend to be dead so that the predator would lose interest in him. And so it happened — the bear soon disappeared. Severely wounded and having lost a lot of blood, Kodenkov began to crawl until he met people in the forest. They helped him get to the village and called the paramedics.

"The eye was badly gouged, the cheek was opened, the leg was slightly chewed, the back. He wanted to tear his stomach, but he fought back with his hands and feet, unclenching his teeth," the victim explained.

According to Alexey Romanchuk, Chief maxillofacial surgeon of Primorsky Krai, the patient's condition was of moderate severity upon admission to the hospital. He has already had surgery using titanium plates.

The man will undergo long-term rehabilitation. According to him, during the evacuation to the hospital, he thought only about the children and that he had to survive.

The bear attack on Kodenkov became known on May 29. It was clarified that a special group had been formed to organize the search operation, which included police officers, hunters and representatives of the Department for the Protection and Regulation of the use of wildlife.
