- The media predicted the dependence of the United States on Russia in case of cancellation of contracts with SpaceX

US President Donald Trump's threat to terminate government contracts with SpaceX may lead to Washington having to turn to Moscow again to organize space launches. This was reported on June 7 by Newsweek magazine, citing expert opinion.
"If the contracts are terminated, NASA will again have to turn to Russia to get to the International Space Station (ISS) and back," the publication quotes Clayton Swope, deputy director of the Aerospace Security project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
He noted that SpaceX plays a key role in ensuring the interests of US national security and supporting NASA programs.
Swope also stressed that SpaceX provides a significant part of launches for the delivery of cargo and crews to the ISS, as well as performs missions in the interests of the US Department of Defense.
American entrepreneur Elon Musk announced on June 5 that SpaceX would not decommission the Dragon spacecraft, as previously planned. On the same day, Musk, after the words of US President Donald Trump about the possible termination of government contracts with his companies to save the state budget, announced that his aerospace company SpaceX would decommission the Dragon spacecraft, which are used by the United States to deliver people and cargo to International Space stations.
