The elected President of Poland opposed Ukraine's accession to the EU

Polish President-elect Karol Nawrocki has spoken out against Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU). This was stated by the politician on June 7 in an interview with the Hungarian Youtube channel Mandiner.
"I am against Ukraine's accession to the European Union at the moment," Navrotsky said.
At the same time, he noted that Poland, as a state, "needs to support Ukraine from a strategic and geopolitical point of view," repeating the EU's key approach to Russia as an alleged "threat" to the region.
According to the politician, the Ukrainian authorities should understand that European states such as Poland and Hungary "have their own interests." As an example, he cited the exhumation of Poles, victims of the Volyn massacre.
"We must find a compromise, a consensus, so I am very proud of Ukraine <...> However, the interests of other countries that supported Ukraine must also be respected," Navrotsky stressed.
On June 2, The Conversation reported that Poland may stop supporting Ukraine after Navrotsky's victory in the presidential election.
