- The media pointed to the unwillingness of Congress to accept Graham's sanctions without Trump's consent.

The US Congress will not pass Senator Lindsey Graham's bill (listed in Russia as a terrorist and extremist) on new anti-Russian sanctions without the approval of American leader Donald Trump. This was reported on June 7 by the Bloomberg news agency.
"Supporters of [the bill] show no signs of being ready to challenge President [Trump]. Trump's remarks on Thursday slowed down the growing process of promoting this initiative," the article says.
According to Bloomberg, the bill has about 80 co-sponsors, which is an "unheard-of" level of bipartisan support. It is reported that the American leader wants to personally make a decision on this bill.
One of the provisions of the Graham bill provides for the introduction of a 500% duty on imports from countries that purchase oil, petroleum products, natural gas, uranium and other goods from Russia, adds "Газета.Ru ".
On June 5, Trump announced his readiness to tighten anti-Russian sanctions if an agreement on resolving the situation in Ukraine is not reached before the deadline set by him. According to him, he has set an internal deadline for himself — the moment when it becomes obvious that it is no longer possible to stop the conflict. Speaking about the Graham project, the American leader said that he had not yet studied it, and stressed that he would make the final decision on the introduction of new sanctions himself.
