The Baltic states supported Ukraine's accession to NATO and the EU

The Baltic states have confirmed their support for Ukraine's membership in NATO and the European Union (EU). This is stated in a joint statement by the heads of the foreign affairs committees of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, the text of which was published on June 7 by the head of the Lithuanian Seimas Committee, Zhigimantas Pavlenis, on Facebook (owned by the recognized extremist Meta company, its activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation).
The document emphasizes that Ukraine's accession to NATO is supposedly necessary for the establishment of a just and lasting peace.
"Ukraine's membership in NATO will provide a more effective and solid foundation for ensuring Euro—Atlantic security," the document says.
Among the commitments set out in the statement are Ukraine's accession to the EU by 2030, as well as increased sanctions pressure on Russia.
The Baltic states also proposed inviting Ukraine to join the Joint Expeditionary Force (ECO) as an element of deeper regional security integration. The statement calls on other countries, international parliamentary structures and organizations to support these initiatives and provide political and legal support to Ukraine.
U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker said on June 4 that the countries of the military alliance are not currently discussing the issue of Ukraine joining the bloc. Whitaker added that the final decision rests with US President Donald Trump and all 32 of Washington's allies, who must come to a consensus on the issue. In addition, the White House has not yet decided whether the United States will continue to provide financial assistance to the Kiev authorities.
