A freight train with 35 tanks of gasoline derailed in Romania on the Bucharest-Craiova highway. This was reported by Digi24 TV channel on Saturday, June 7.

It is noted that the incident occurred on the night of Friday to Saturday in the area of the village of Malden.

"A locomotive and two tank cars derailed, one of which was damaged with a fuel leak. The accident site is located 1.5 km from residential buildings and 1.1 km from the national road DN6. Due to the high temperatures, firefighters regularly cool the damaged carriage," the publication says.

Two fire brigades, special equipment to eliminate the consequences of accidents and a chemical protection machine are working at the scene. Train traffic and electricity supply in the area of the incident have been suspended.

All 35 wagons of the train were loaded with gasoline. Representatives of the environmental services have been notified of the incident to control possible environmental pollution.

Earlier, on April 2, in the Czech Republic, a passenger train derailed at a railway crossing near the city of Olomouc, injuring two people. Firefighters assessed the accident site and fixed the fuel leak. According to preliminary data, the incident occurred due to a technical malfunction.
