Deputies of the State Duma from the Fair Russia — For Truth faction are preparing amendments to abolish the criterion of neediness for large families. This was announced on June 7 by the party's leader, MP Sergei Mironov.

"We believe that it is necessary to raise the threshold of need for all families to two subsistence levels. And for those with many children, cancel it altogether. We will introduce such an amendment soon," the parliamentarian said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Mironov stressed that a number of regions of the country are already abolishing the criteria of need for large families.

"We need not only federal status, but also uniform benefits for large families for the whole country. At the same time, when assigning both regional and federal support measures, there should be no criteria of need for them," the deputy added.

According to him, large families are the foundation and hope of the Russian demography, and they should receive unconditional support from the state.

On May 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with families awarded the orders of "Parental Glory" and heroic mothers, pointed out the need to create special conditions for families with three or more children. In addition, the head of state drew attention to the fact that genuine family values remain unchanged for Russia, despite attempts to challenge them.
