Eight large fires on an area of 336 thousand hectares were localized in Transbaikalia

Eight large fires with a total area of more than 336 thousand hectares were localized in the Trans-Baikal Territory. This was announced on June 7 by the regional Ministry of Natural Resources.

"According to the regional dispatch service, at 8:00 a.m. on June 7 (14:00 Moscow time), forest firefighters localized eight large fires in Borzinsky, Kyrinsky, Tungokochensky, Khiloksky and Chita districts on an area of more than 336 thousand hectares and one on an area of 17 hectares," the Telegram channel said.

According to the agency, more than 1.3 thousand people and over 200 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fires.

In addition to the hot weather, there is a lack of moisture after a snowy winter, experts say.

On June 6, it was reported that nine fires with an area of 190 thousand hectares were localized in the Trans-Baikal Territory in Chita, Khilok, Kyrin, Tungokochen districts, as well as in the Sretensky district.
