In the city of Dresden, in the Leiben district, a large fire broke out in the building of the former state operetta. This was reported on June 6 by the Bild newspaper with reference to the city fire department.

It is specified that the fire occurred on Friday evening. The alarm was sounded at 19:37 local time (20:37 Moscow time).

Law enforcement officers are working at the scene. 60 employees of the fire service were involved in extinguishing the fire. Presumably, there were no casualties as a result of the fire.

Residents of two houses located near the scene were evacuated. People living within a 1-km radius were advised to keep windows and doors closed, as well as turn off ventilation and air conditioning systems.

The Bild newspaper reported on June 1 that German police had detained a 72-year-old suspect in the arson attack on the Marienkrankenhaus hospital. The investigation concluded that one of the patients deliberately started a fire, which killed three people and injured more than 50 others.
