- Russia's deputy chairman in the OSCE Buyakevich declared the West's indifference to the fate of Ukraine

Western countries use Ukraine as a tool in their confrontation with Russia, and they have minimal interest in the fate of the Ukrainian people themselves. This was announced on Thursday, June 5, by the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Maxim Buyakevich at a meeting of the organization's council.
According to him, the current conflict is a proxy war of NATO against Russia using Kiev as a resource.
"Few people in the West care about the fate of Ukraine itself, since it has long been destined to play the role of a pawn in the geopolitical game of the powerful," Buyakevich is quoted as saying on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
He also noted that the Ukrainian authorities, in his opinion, are not interested in protecting their own population, "leading them to slaughter by hundreds of thousands." Buyakevich warned of the risk of further escalation of the conflict, which could lead to unpredictable consequences.
At the same time, the diplomat expressed the hope that "responsible politicians" would be able to start a meaningful dialogue that takes into account the interests of all sovereign states. The Russian representative confirmed Moscow's readiness for professional contacts aimed at resolving the situation.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on May 27 that the West was in every way inciting Ukraine to continue the conflict with Russia. In addition, he emphasized that American President Donald Trump supports continuing conversations between the two countries, however, according to Lavrov, Russophobic forces in the United States are trying to throw the current administration off course and return to the position of former President of the United States Joe Biden.
