Goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, who is the winner of the Champions League with the French club Paris Saint Germain (PSG), has been announced as the captain of the starting line-up of the Russian national football team against Nigeria. This was announced on June 6 by the press service on the website of the Russian national team before the start of the match.

The starting line-up also included defenders Ilya Vakhania, Danil Krugovoy, Maxim Osipenko, Viktor Melekhin, midfielders Alexey Batrakov, Anton Miranchuk, Danil Glebov, Andrey Mostovoy, Maxim Glushenkov and striker Nikolai Komlichenko, Sport-Express reported. The meeting will start at 20:00.

"Match day with Nigeria! For the first time in a long time we are playing at Luzhniki Stadium. Come to the stadium! We need your support," the Russian Football Union (RFU) VKontakte page says.

On May 31, Russian PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov won four trophies in his debut season with his new club after winning the UEFA Champions League. In addition to the main European Cup, the Russian goalkeeper, along with PSG, won the French championship, the Cup and the Super Cup this season.

Paris Saint-Germain won the UEFA Champions League for the first time in its history on May 31. In the final of the tournament, held at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, PSG defeated the Italian Inter 5-0.
