The expert spoke about the rules for applying to the university in 2025

The admission campaign in 2025 follows the updated rules. Alexander Khvostov, Director of Educational Community Relations at MAXIMUM Education, told Izvestia on June 9 how not to miss deadlines and not get lost in the details, as well as where, when and how applicants should apply in order to be guaranteed participation in the competition for budget places.
He explained that you can apply to universities (if you do not need to take additional entrance tests) by July 25. However, for applicants to specialties where there are creative, professional or specialized tests, the deadline is July 20.
"On July 29, acceptance of enrollment consents from beneficiaries and target recipients is completed, and on July 30, the order for enrollment of beneficiaries and target recipients is completed. Until August 3, inclusive, the submission of consent to participate in the main competition," added Khvostov.
He warned: on August 5 at 12:00 Moscow time — the end of acceptance of consents, publication of orders on crediting to the budget.
The specialist also explained that an applicant has the right to apply to five universities and five courses of study in each of them. At the same time, it is important to set priorities, that is, to determine which direction is the most desirable. There are three ways to apply: through the Gosuslugi portal (online University Admission service); through a personal account on the university's website; in person, at the university admissions office.
The documents must include: an application for admission, a copy of the passport, a certificate, the results of the Unified State Exam, documents confirming individual achievements (if any), consent to the processing of personal data.
"It is important to remember that since 2025, mandatory consent for enrollment is in effect again. Even if you have provided the original certificate, you will not be enrolled in a particular university without consent," the expert noted.
You can submit your consent online or in person. I would like to note that consent can be submitted only once at each stage of enrollment, that is, it is necessary to determine exactly the priorities. In addition, applicants can track the status of their admission. Now two lists are published on the websites of universities and in the Online University Admission service.: the list of applicants and the competition lists, where the scores and status are indicated (including whether consent has been submitted). This makes the competitive situation more transparent — you can evaluate your chances of admission in real time.
Also, for individual achievements, an applicant, according to Khvostov, can receive up to 10 additional points to the amount of the Unified State Exam. These can be sports categories, a GTO badge, volunteer work, victories and prizes in Olympiads and competitions, participation in projects and competitions.
"Each university decides for itself what to award and how many points, so it is important to study the rules of a particular university," the specialist concluded.
Earlier, on May 17, Khvostov told Izvestia about popular mistakes when applying to a university. According to him, choosing a university rather than a specialty can lead to disappointment in studies already in the first years. Career guidance is needed first, then a choice of profession, then a specialty, and only after that, a university.
