- Lavrov announced the harmonization of the socio-economic legislation of Abkhazia with the Russian Federation

Abkhazia harmonizes socio-economic legislation with Russian legislation in order to effectively use the resources of the Russian Federation for development. This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during talks with his Abkhaz counterpart Oleg Bartsits on June 6.
Lavrov noted that Russia and Abkhazia are allies with a long history. At the moment, the parties are working to create a unified defense security space in accordance with the decisions of the presidents, he said.
"We are harmonizing the Abkhaz socio-economic legislation with the Russian one in order to maximize the use of the resources available for the purposes, assistance and development of the republic," the Russian Foreign Minister stressed.
The Minister pointed out that the results of the work done will be tangible in the pension, medical, educational and other areas.
In May, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Abkhaz leader Badra Gunba in the Kremlin that Russia was ready to continue cooperation with Abkhazia in the economic and humanitarian spheres. According to him, the growth of tourist flows has been significant over the past year. It is expected to increase by at least 7% in 2025.
