To some extent, the team of US President Donald Trump is already beginning to reduce its activity in Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by American political scientist Malek Dudakov on Friday, June 6.

According to him, the administration of the American leader understands that it is very difficult to resolve the conflict at the moment.

"The main change is probably that in the early months, the current US president was more hoping for a quick agreement with us to resolve the Ukrainian crisis. Now, I think Trump understands that in order to de—escalate, the root causes and prerequisites of the conflict need to be addressed, and this is very difficult," Dudakov said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

He noted that hawks on both sides of the Atlantic had failed to get Trump to provide more money or weapons to Kiev.

"The same thing, I fully admit, will happen in the issue of sanctions, because now the White House is slowing down the adoption of this sanctions bill in the Senate. There is no progress. And even if it is adopted, Trump will still have the last word, he may not impose secondary tariffs," the expert concluded.

Trump is interested in negotiating with Russia, including on economic issues, so he is not imposing sanctions yet, Dudakov believes.

Earlier in the day, it became known that discussions related to Ukraine would be minimal at the NATO summit. This is done in order not to anger US President Donald Trump, according to the website. kp.ru .

The meetings are also planned to be organized in such a way that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could somehow attend without provoking Trump. At the same time, the Ukrainian leader may come to the summit dinner. He will not be allowed to attend the main meeting.

Earlier, on May 27, The New York Times (NYT) reported that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte fears that the summit will be disrupted due to the conflict between Trump and Zelensky, RT reports.
